OCAD’s new building; sponsor a view

OCAD’s Virtual Building – explore, pick, and donate! allows you to page around the floating zebra box (the Sharp Centre for Design) that they have built and sponsor a window. Now you may ask, “Who would donate $2,000 to sponsor a hole?” but don’t think of it as a whole – think of it as a view, a looking out by someone floating up there. They won’t see the building from your view, they will see through your generosity!

The blogosphere is divided over the extraordinary building. See TheStar.com – Extraordinary, whether you like it or not by Christopher Hume or The Adventures of Accordion Guy in the 21st Century :: “Imagine Grange Park” meeting tonight / that damned OCAD building. As Hume points out, it will be interesting to see Gehry’s redesign of the AGO, just around the corner. Gehry is used to building amidst traditional buildings, how will he deal with this loud floating box right next to his space?
Personaly, I like it, and it fits the lively colourful neighborhood (close to where I used to live). Those who call it “hyper-entropic avant garde faggotry” need to convince me with criticism, not homophobic rhetoric. (James Howard Kunstler: Eyesore of the Month)
