Griseldaonline and The Edinburgh Journal of Gadda Studies were two online journals shown at the Brown conference. Both seem to be well supported and mature online journals that could be examples for SSHRC as they imagine ways of engaging the larger community.
Griseldaonline is a literary journal by the Department of Italian Studies at the University of Bologna. It is a departmental activity supported by the staff of the department. It has three main areas:
1. Issues of articles, called journeys, around a theme like the body.
2. A didactic section for teachers of Italian lit (in Italy)
3. A section on humanities computing with a manual.
The Gada Studies journal is the work of Federica Pedriali at Edinburgh. It is a mix of journal and exploration with peer reviewed articles and playful components. (Federica showed a menu from a conference with items related to Gada’s work.) It is simple in technical design, but illustrates how a dedicated editor can build useful content with a network of support over time.
