See <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2026\/10\/18\/opinion\/ai-bubble-catastrophe-investors-control.html\">This Is the Good Scenario?<\/a> by Ezra Klein.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s easy enough to answer the question of whether we want A.I. that kills us all. We don\u2019t. But do we want A.I. that enriches us all, if the cost is our control and comprehension over the world in which we live? What is the value to human beings maintaining primacy over our own struggle, and how do we weigh it against the easing of that struggle?<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We usually focus on the catastrophic or just everyday bad impacts of AI. What we don&#8217;t do is reflect on what the AI companies are promising will happen if all goes well &#8230; the promised utopia. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Klein points out that this utopia isn&#8217;t that attractive. Do we really want a world where things are so complex no human understands them? Do we want to lose control over our organizations, policies, educational system etc. Do we want to automate the challenges we enjoy? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This story was partly provoked by the the big OpenAI dump of mathematics papers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This raises the question of whether we can articulate a scenario we would want and who gets to imagine that future?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The New York Times has a good opinion piece that looks at what the AI utopians are promising us.
