One of my favorites is <em><a href=\"http:\/\/hackeducation.com\/2019\/12\/31\/what-a-shitshow\">The 100 Worst Ed-Tech Debacles of the Decade<\/a>.\u00a0<\/em>Ed-Tech is one of those fields where over and over techies think they know better. Some of the debacles Watters discusses:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>3D Printing<\/li>\n<li>The &#8220;Flipped Classroom&#8221; (Full disclosure: I sat on a committee that funded these.)<\/li>\n<li>Op-Eds to ban laptops<\/li>\n<li>Clickers<\/li>\n<li>Stories about the end of the library<\/li>\n<li>Interactive whiteboards<\/li>\n<li>The K-12 Cyber Incident Map (Check it out <a href=\"https:\/\/k12cybersecure.com\/map\/\">here<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li>IBM Watson<\/li>\n<li>The Year of the MOOC<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This collection of 100 terrible ideas in instructional technology should be mandatory reading for all of us who have been keen on ed-tech. (And I am one who has develop ed-tech and oversold it.)
