On Friday I delivered\u00a0the opening keynote at an conference Colloque ACFAS 2017 \u00ab\u00a0La publication savante en contexte num\u00e9rique\u00a0\u00bb<\/a> organized by CRIHN<\/a>. The keynote was on “Hermeneutica: Le dialogue du texte et le jeu de l\u2019interpr\u00e9tation,” presenting work St\u00e9fan Sinclair and I have been doing on how to integrate text and tools. The context of the talk was a previous colloquium organized by\u00a0CRIHN:<\/p>\n

Apr\u00e8s un premier colloque \u00e0 l\u2019ACFAS du Centre de Recherche Interuniversitaire sur les Humanit\u00e9s Num\u00e9riques en 2014\u00a0(sur les besoins d\u2019analyser l\u2019impact du num\u00e9rique sur les sciences humaines), l\u2019objectif de notre colloque en 2017 est de repenser d\u2019un point de vue th\u00e9orique et pratique l\u2019\u00e9dition savante \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9poque du num\u00e9rique.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

In the talk I demonstrated a new tool based on Eliza<\/a> that we call Veliza<\/a>. Veliza implements Weizenbaum’s Eliza algorithm but adds the ability to pull a random sentence from the text you are analyzing and send that to the machine. The beta version (not the standard one yet) I was using had two other features.<\/p>\n
