{"id":5451,"date":"2014-08-29T16:51:50","date_gmt":"2014-08-29T16:51:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/theoreti.ca\/?p=5451"},"modified":"2014-08-29T16:51:50","modified_gmt":"2014-08-29T16:51:50","slug":"noveltm-text-mining-the-novel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theoreti.ca\/?p=5451","title":{"rendered":"NovelTM: Text Mining the Novel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This week SSHRC <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sshrc-crsh.gc.ca\/news_room-salle_de_presse\/press_releases-communiques\/2014\/research_partnerships-partenariats_de_recherche-eng.aspx\">announced the new partnership grants<\/a> awarded including one I am a co-investigator on, <a href=\"http:\/\/novel-tm.ca\/\">NovelTM: Text Mining the Novel<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>This project brings together\u00a0researchers and partners from 21 different academic and non-academic institutions\u00a0to produce the first large-scale quantitative history of the novel. Our aim is to\u00a0bring new computational approaches in the field of\u00a0text mining to the study of literature as well as bring the unique knowledge of literary studies to bear on larger debates about data mining\u00a0and the place of information technology within society.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>NovelTM is led by <a href=\"http:\/\/piperlab.mcgill.ca\/\">Andrew Piper<\/a> at McGill University.
