The book is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/The-Demise-Guys-Struggling-ebook\/dp\/B00850HTHO\">The Demise of Guys: Why Boys Are Struggling and What We Can Do About It<\/a> and it is by retired Stanford psychologist Philip Zimbardo and Nikita Duncan. The book builds on a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ted.com\/talks\/zimchallenge.html\">TED Talk<\/a> that argues that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The statistics show that guys are underachieving.<\/li>\n<li>Guys are shyer than before. Few guys know how to talk to women.<\/li>\n<li>Guys prefer homosocial situations which Zimbardo calls Social Intensity Syndrome.<\/li>\n<li>All this is caused by computer games and internet porn.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Boys\u2019 brains are being digitally rewired for change, novelty, excitement and constant arousal. That means they\u2019re totally out of sync in traditional classes, which are analog, static, interactively passive.&#8221; (Zimbardo)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Compare this to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ted.com\/talks\/hanna_rosin_new_data_on_the_rise_of_women.html\">Hanna Rosin: New data on the rise of women<\/a> who argues that &#8220;the global economy is becoming a place where women are more successful than men.&#8221; She argues that there has been a hollowing out of the middle-class jobs men held for service jobs that women do better.
