It charts some of the open projects other than source code projects like the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wikipedia.org\">Wikipedia<\/a> and Stallman&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gutenberg.net\">Project Gutenberg<\/a>. These are mostly open publishing projects, but what would it mean to open the development of knowledge the way code developers do? Could we turn a project like TAPoR inside out so that all could see the workings of the project and participate?<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nWhat would be entailed?<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Open the budgets &#8211; put the financial guts of the project online<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Open the e-mail lists and meetings<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Blogs that reveal the research process (like these notes?), the notes, and the bibliographic process<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Could knowledge be open?
