{"id":1276,"date":"2006-08-15T17:40:48","date_gmt":"2006-08-15T21:40:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.theoreti.ca\/?p=1276"},"modified":"2006-08-15T17:41:48","modified_gmt":"2006-08-15T21:41:48","slug":"acls-commission-on-cyberinfrastructure-for-the-humanities-social-sciences","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theoreti.ca\/?p=1276","title":{"rendered":"ACLS Commission on Cyberinfrastructure for the Humanities &#038; Social Sciences"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.acls.org\/cyberinfrastructure\/index.htm\">ACLS Commission on Cyberinfrastructure for the Humanities &#038; Social Sciences<\/a> has released their final report.<\/p>\n<p>Their recommendates are:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Invest in cyberinfrastructure for the humanities and social sciences, as a matter of strategic priority<\/li>\n<li>Develop public and institutional policies that foster openness and access<\/li>\n<li>Promote cooperation between the public and private sectors <\/li>\n<li>Cultivate leadership in support of cyberinfrastructure from within the humanities and social sciences <\/li>\n<li>Encourage digital scholarship <\/li>\n<li>Establish national centers to support scholarship that contributes to and exploits cyberinfrastructure<\/li>\n<li>Develop and maintain open standards and robust tools<\/li>\n<li>Create extensive and reusable digital collections<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>I note that the development of robust tools is one of the recommendations (along with open standards).
