The declaration of the identified IT and alliances as two opportunities:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Two opportunities \u00f3 new alliances and the use of information technology \u00f3 now offer the possibility of expanding the range and usefulness of scholarship and providing unprecedented benefits to society.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><!--more--><br \/>\nThe Glion Declaration dates to 1999 and comes from the the Glion Colloquium: The Future of the Research University. The colloquium brings American (US) and European academics associated with higher education together in Glion, Switzerland.
